God’s servant should be aware that God is a Spirit and He is Righteous in all things and his ways are perfect. (2 Samuel 22:31; Psalm 111:3). There is also exceeding depth of riches both in the wisdom and knowledge of God; His judgements are unsearchable and his ways are past finding out. (Romans 11:33-36).
Also, God declares that His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are our ways His ways. But that “…as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [His] ways higher than [our] ways, and [His] thoughts than [our] thoughts”. (Isaiah 55:8-9).
So that to have insight into his knowledge, wisdom, judgements, thoughts and His ways, God’s Servants should be able to perceive things spiritually. They can do this by the help of God’s Holy Spirit who “searches all things,” including “the deep things of God”. (1 Corinthians 2:10). Spiritual maturity is thus a commitment to the process of learning and the willingness to obey or practice God’s Will according to his word and as led and inspired by His Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 1 John 2:27).
1.1. THE SPIRITUALLY WEAK FEED ON “MILK”
Servants of God who are not spiritually mature in the ways of God will like babes be fed with “milk” because they may not be able to receive or understand “the deep things of God” and so may not be entrusted with it. This is because they are prone to “walk as men”, influenced by carnal things such as envying, strife and divisions.
But the spiritually mature Ministers in the ways of God are fed with “meat” because they live and “walk in the Spirit” and do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (1 Corinthians 3:2-3; Galatians 5:16 & 25).
1.2. JUDGE NOTHING BEFORE THE TIME
Servants of God should so conduct themselves that they are accounted for as the Ministers of Christ, and faithful stewards of the mysteries of God. (1 Corinthians 4:1-2). In the belief that one knows nothing by themselves, they should endeavour to “judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God”. (1 Corinthians 4:5).
