THE TRUST OF GOD (VII) : Productiveness in Service Delivery

God’s Ministers should consider that your “reasonable service” is “a living sacrifice” that is “holy, acceptable unto God”. You should therefore endeavour not to conform yourself or your service to this world, such as by regarding your calling and service more highly or with pride. (Romans 12:1 -3). Rather, we are to deliver our service with a mind of unity in Christ. To do this, we should view our respective calling and work more like how the body works.

For example, God has designed the body to have several parts (or members), some small and some large, some weak and some strong. Yet all are members of the same body, having different functions and every part is indispensable. The eye cannot say to the hand I have no need of you nor can the head say thus to the feet. (Romans 12:4; 1 Corinthians 12:18-24). In the same way, “we, being many, are one body in Christ, and everyone [minister] members one of another” (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:27).

Thus, in delivering God’s services pursuant to our respective calling and gifts, there should be no division in the body of Christ, “but that the members may have the same care for one another”; suffering one with the other in trials and rejoicing when one is honoured. (1 Corinthians 12:25-26). God’s servants should therefore in this unity, use their differing gifts, to deliver God’s services to His people – be it  to prophesy, or to minister, to teach, to encourage, to give, to rule or to show mercy (Romans 12:6-8)
