THE TRUST OF GOD (IX): Patience in Waiting on God

Usually we may wait on God for something that we seek or desire to come to pass. But there are instances when God assesses the trustworthiness of His servant by requiring them in patient waiting solely for His own purpose and Glory. In other words, you may find yourself in a waiting situation which you have not desired, orchestrated and cannot control; but that God desires to accomplish something for himself or through your waiting.

5.1 GOD HEDGES HIS CHOSEN FOR HIS HONOUR

God may hedge his Servants that he may demonstrate his power. For example, after the Children of Israel went out of Egypt, God told Moses to tell them  to “encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea”.(Exodus 14:1-2). He revealed His intention to Moses saying:

“For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so”. (Exodus 14:3-4).

Ministers of God may like the Children of Israel find themselves entangled in a situation which may only be a strategy designed by God to gain complete victory over our adversaries for His honour. In such “entangled” situations of waiting (or seeming stagnation), we should not strive or find fault with anyone, as did the Children of Israel who, were afraid and strove with Moses. (Exodus 14:10-14). We should also not pray for deliverance because when God hedges you none can deliver from His hand. (Isaiah 43:13). Rather, we should patiently wait in prayer for sustaining faith till God’s purpose is made manifest.

5.2 WAITING FOR THE PROMISE OF SALVATION
