The ‘bread of heaven’ is God’s kingdom on earth. Mankind should have knowledge of the ‘bread” that is prepared by God from heaven in order to have access to the father’s ‘daily bread’. Christ requests of the Father: “Thy kingdom come; thy will be done in earth” (Matthew 6:10). The “bread of heaven” on earth is God’s gift of salvation unto eternal life, which comes by God’s sacrifice in Jesus, to absolve the world from sin, so “that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. (John 6:47; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
2.1 . THE BREAD OF LIFE
Jesus is “the bread of God which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world” that “a man may eat thereof, and not die” (John 6:31-33 & 50-51; John 1:12-14). ONLY Father God can draw his people unto Jesus according to his WILL by revelation. And everyone to whom God reveals His Son, and who believes (or feeds) on him, shall have everlasting life (John 6:33 & 49; 6:35 &38-40). Herein is the significance of the request for ‘our daily bread’ in the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ for God’s kingdom to come and his will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:9-11).
The peculiar position of Jesus Christ as Gods sacrifice by death and the resurrection, makes him the “true bread from heaven”. God the father has “sealed” Jesus as “the bread of life” to give unto the children of God food which does not perish or make them perish, but grants unto them everlasting life (John 6.27; 6.32; 3:16).
