The word of God is life and strength. We are called to live “by every word that [proceeds] out of the mouth of God” and not by “bread alone” (Deuteronomy 8:3: Matthew 4:4). Believers should hence endeavour to read and listen to the word of God and to do them. In doing so, your soul shall become like a house that is built on a rock, so that when the floods and winds of trials blow and beat on your faith, you will not sink under it for the word of God never fails. (Mathew 7:24-25; Luke 1:37). God’s word is a nourishing spiritual food to uplift the spirit to sustain in trials.
2.1. BELIEVE GOD’S WORD IS POWER
Also, the word of God is a spiritual arsenal that can enhance your faith in trials. It is “the sword of the Spirit”, a powerful weapon to combat sickness and all assaults from evil. Jesus said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”. They are also the authority upon which we may lay claim to the promises of God to ask what we will, and it shall be done to us. (Ephesians 6:17; John 6:63; 15:7).
For instance, when the Centurion’s servant was sick with palsy and ready to die he asked Jesus to “speak the word only, and [his] servant shall be healed”(Matthew 8:8; Luke 7:6-8). Jesus commended his faith and told him, “go thy way…as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee”. The Centurion’s servant was healed in the same hour (Matthew 8:10 &13; Luke 7:9-10).
3. TRUST IN THE WORD OF GRACE: JESUS CHRIST
