Jesus Christ is the promised son of God, the Messiah. He “was [born] of the seed of David according to the flesh”; and was “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead”. (Romans 1:2-6; Genesis 28:14; Luke 2:11). During his baptism, the heavens opened and “the Spirit of God” descended upon him; and “a voice from heaven, [said] this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”. (Matthew 3:16-17; Mark 1:10-11; Luke 3:21-22).
Jesus experienced trials of faith for the ministry pertaining to his Sonship “in the flesh” – as a Human person (with power over all flesh); and as “Spirit of God” – (with power as saviour to give life eternal) by his resurrection. (John 10:28 &17:2; Acts 2:36).
