INTRODUCTION
Last week we examined the nature of faith trials. We introduced the purposes of God in faith trials including for Christ’s ministry, for discipleship, for righteousness sake, for salvation and relationship, and for correction.
This message examines God’s purpose in faith trials in the Ministry of Christ. It explains the temptation and agony of Jesus Christ as the Son of God ‘in the flesh’ and ‘in the Spirit’. It also explores some important functions of his trial by affliction namely: for a sin offering; to justify people by his knowledge; to make Jesus an intercessor for sinners; and to secure in him an earthly inheritance. These functions accrue as blessings to all who believe on his name.
