GREATER LOVE AS SACRIFICE’

 Why did God sacrifice Jesus by affliction and death on the cross? There are several functions for God’s sacrifice. The functions include:

a)       for a sin offering for our iniquities and transgressions (Isaiah 53:10-11; Romans 3:25; Ephesians 2:1; Colossians 2:13; 1 Timothy 1:15,16);
 b)      to justify people by his knowledge; (Isaiah 42:1; 53:11; Romans 3:26 & 4:5 & 4:25);
 c)       to make Jesus an intercessor for sinners; (Isaiah 53:5-6; 8 &12; Romans 3:23-25; 1 Peter 2:24);
 d)      to secure in Jesus an earthly inheritance (Isaiah 53:12; Psalm 16:5-6 & 2:8; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:15);
 e)       to provide the ‘way’ to reconcile the world with our Father God (Romans 5:10-11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19);
 f)        and to demonstrate his love for mankind (John3:16);

These functions accrue as blessings to all who believe on his name. (John 3:18)
