Hezekiah, king of Judah was sick unto death. The prophet Isaiah delivered a message from God telling him to “set [his] house in order: for [he] shalt die, and not live” (Isaiah 38:1). How did Hezekiah express his faith?
Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD. He he wept and said “remember now, O LORD … how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight (Isaiah 38:1-3). Upon his prayer, God said to him through Isaiah, “I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years” (2 Kings 20:5-6; Isaiah 38:5). When he recovered from his illness he wrote praise to the Lord (Isaiah 38: 9-20).
This faith expression could manifest in situations where one finds him/herself in difficult circumstances and call on God to remembrance of some good deed that might move Him on their behalf.
