A Woman was plagued with ‘an issue of blood’ for twelve years. She had seen many doctors and had spent all that she had, but her condition only worsened (Mark 5:25-26; Matthew 9:20). One day Jesus was passing by her area with a crowd of people. After she “had heard of Jesus”, she came from behind him and touched his garment, and she was immediately healed of her disease (Mark 5:27-29). When Jesus asked who had touched him because he perceived virtue had gone out of him, she admitted, whereupon Jesus said to her “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace” (Luke 8:46-48).
Let us examine her faith expressions. First, she made a conscious decision, to go out and touch Jesus’ clothes “[saying] within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole”(Mark 5:29). She “heard” about Jesus, had faith that he would heal her, considered ‘within her heart’ to touch his clothes and acted upon her belief. Second, when Jesus asked who had touched him, she confessed before all the people what had happened to her.
Such faith expression could manifest in situations where people are in darkness, or bound in affliction, or evil attack, needing deliverance, but there is none to help; and they cry unto the Lord and he saves them (Psalm 107:10 &13; Luke 1:79).
