EXPRESSIONS OF FAITH IV :’BELIEF’ IN FAITH’

God showed the old and childless Abraham the stars of the heaven and promises that his “seed” shall be as innumerable as the stars.” He believed in the LORD; and God counted it to him for righteousness (Genesis 15:5-6). The strength of Abraham’s faith is that he did not encourage unbelief by considering their inability to have children – i.e. that he and Sarah were old and passed the age of childbearing, but he was strong in faith giving glory to God (Romans 4:17-22).

Abraham “against hope believed in hope” that he will become the father of many nations according to the word of God (Romans 4:18). He was also “fully persuaded that, what [God] had promised, [God] was able also to perform” (Romans 4:21). It was Abraham’s belief in God’s own ability to do what he says that was the faith accounted for as righteousness.

Abraham’s faith would manifest in situations where one places their faith in God and believes for something which from the physically sense would seem impossible to achieve.
