Brethren beware also of religious leaders who claim to serve God yet are lying agents of Satan. Depending on the doctrines these leaders teach, they may be “false prophets” or “false teachers”. Such become very potent instruments in Satan’s lying agency because their false doctrines, “damnable heresies” and “pernicious ways” are usually unsuspecting and by them God’s people are led astray (2 Peter 2:1-2). For instance, although Aaron knew the wonders that God did in Egypt to deliver Israel, he crafted a “molten calf “ from earrings and represented it to the children of Israel as their god’s which brought them out of the land of Egypt; and he built an altar before it ( Exodus 32:3-5).
We must therefore all beware that as “Satan himself transformed into an angel of light” so too teachers, leaders and prophets who are ‘false’ and “deceitful workers” can transform themselves into “ministers of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). They will deceive the faithful by performing great signs and wonders; they will seek to distort the truth by speaking perverse things to attract followers; and to satisfy their covetousness they will use feign words and pretence to exploit you. (Matthew 24:24; Acts 20:28-30; 2 Peter 2:2-3). BEWARE !!
